Channel/Chatrooms and Community recommendations

To add a chatroom or community to this list it must:

  1. Have a Code of Conduct that is strong enough to offer robust protections to marginalized people and minorities. For a template that you can use see the Cooperative Development Guidelines Code of Conduct, it also provides resources for other Code of Conducts there.
  2. Have multiple owners and moderators in the chat(s).
  3. Have a healthy community that aims for inclusion, equity, diversity and enforces the above Code of Conduct.
  4. Have an easy, documented way to join. By either being public and joined by anyone or have a clear way to get an invite.
  5. Make it clear where the room is bridged before a person joins the room (write in the Subject, Description, Listing, etc.) and what drawbacks that includes (cultural, different way to message, etc.). The XMPP room should be the main venue of the community and the bridged rooms in other networks, the secondary ones.

If your room or community fulfills this criteria send a message to the JoinJabber Collective room with the address of the room and a answer to each above criteria (links, yes/no, statement of values, etc.).

  • XMPP Support Get help about your XMPP/Jabber app here 🙂.
  • Abuse Reports and discussion around abuse/safety/community building in XMPP.
  • General Hangout General XMPP questions, explorations, news. It also serves as a general non-tech hangout room for the XMPP community.
  • Lisp for Common Lisp, Scheme, Emacs Lisp, Clojure, PicoLisp, and other Lisp-family languages.

Queer Spark is a server dedicated to helping marginalized people and allies of all walks of life connect with each other and build communities without the abuse that results from profit driven services and technologies.

THRIVE Community Group hosts channels, support calls, and other resources to help people transitioning away from high-demand religions (Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh-day Adventist, etc.), or anyone who is experiencing a faith crisis, to connect, support, and find solidarity with each other. Anyone is welcome to join, even if they are simply curious.
